WE CAN CONTROL THE DEFICIT
The federal deficit is out of control. Here are some easy measures to take control of the awful debt we’ve found ourselves mired in as a country. Over the next five years, our deficit can be eradicated completely. I know, I know! No one will read these words or take my advice and enact my simple measures, but . . . (sigh) it could be so easy.
First, all of the entire precious minerals extracted from our earth should be taxed at 20% off the top. I mean, it’s “our” minerals folks, and we’re allowing big companies to mine and suck “our” minerals from the core of “our” earth. Why not pay us . . . (the earth citizens) for the privilege of extracting our resources? The 20% would more than take care of the future of social security, forever and ever! That’s the first new rule I’d enact.
Second, all corporate heads and their employees should be mandated to give back to the communities and nations they live in by donating a small part of their normal work time serving in the public service arena, returning their blessings back to humanity. Many less fortunate humans will eventually become more self sufficient and productive as a result of the service and care they have received. Five hours a week of service to our fellow man could change the future of mankind in a positive way. The greatest feelings of achievement for a company would be the corporate employees and owners competing for the right to render service to those less fortunate. They’d soon realize there is no greater joy than giving back to those in need. Imagine stepping out of the corporate structure of competition and stress, and into the arena of giving. Might take a company to a brand new level of success.
Next, all humans should be taxed the same. If you make a dollar or a billion dollars, the tax should be the same- 10%, 15%, or whatever it takes to keep the deficit in balance. Let’s do it! It’s so unfair to tax the middle class and the poor indiscriminately, and give the wealthy and large corporations the largest tax breaks. If our taxes were all the same . . . for all salaries and incomes, who could possibly gripe? Not Me! What would you do to balance the needs of humanity and at the same time balance the fiscal budget? I’d like to hear your ideas.

I’m all for a flat tax. The good part is that if it is truely implemented the percentage would be much lower than 10-15% probably more like 3-5%. The only downside is that you must remove ALL deductions. That means we would be taxing those who now pay no tax because they are below the poverty line.
