ELECTION ’08 – Go Hillary . . .
I have been caught up in the election process the past few weeks, watching the debates, listening to the candidates with an open mind. I’m not positive why it’s so important (of all years) to become soooo immersed in the voting decision to make the right choice of whom I’ll personally support, but I know in my bones that it’s necessary to keep an open mind this year and vote with my heart. It’s almost like we’re at an impasse of time, a pathway that can bring us to the olden moral decision of right or wrong, where success or failure is an option spiritually, politically, and economically.
It also seems clear to me that whomever we elect will be crucial to our future security and the future security of our children. So much wrong with our country right now, it’s foolish to go over and over the deficient areas of prolonged neglect. We simply need a strong President who will logically deal with all the areas in need, one problem at a time, and focus on clearing our plate of eight years of neglect and ignorance, i.e., the horrific deficit, maintaining war, infrastructure deterioration, fractured parties, health problems within of a fast growing and aging America, housing and banking problems, and the illegal immigrant problems are all on the table and in dire need of a solution.
Our new U.S. President must also have the determination and backbone to finish projects, and prove they’re open and honest with all Americans. We have to pray that our new leader will find a workable balance between the Republican and Democratic parties. Why anyone would want the job is beyond me, but whoever it is, they must have the experience to do the job from day one. They’ve got to hit the ground running and be able to make phone calls to important people capable of initiating helpful solutions, and receive honest to goodness solutions for the prevalent problems we’re facing today as human beings. They’ll need to work with the left and right, and the International arena, and stay strong and focused. They’ll need to hire good people to surround them, and rely on the efforts of proven movers and shakers. Most of all, they’ll need to gain the trust back of the American people and the International community. Big job!
Despite many of the negative goings on, I feel very hopeful for the world. For the first time in many years, people turned out to vote in droves. I voted in Prescott, Arizona and the lines were out to the street, three tier deep. Absolutely amazing! The people in the lines were cheerful, optimistic, and determined to vote their say. We all remained in those long lines, despite the confusion and confinement, and by golly gee, (as my hubby would say) we all got to vote our say. It felt good.
I fit the older woman category of voter (whatever designation that is) and my vote is for Hillary Clinton. Nothing to do with her being a woman, I simply respect her experience, stead-fast determination, and sheer willpower to achieve her goals. I don’t think I’ve ever observed a woman so all out determined and focused on a path of unity and fixing what’s wrong with the U.S as she is. She truly wants to help the United States get back onto a path of rightness and security around the world. She has been attacked from the left and the right, from both men and women, and she still plods on forward. My kind of lady! She is familiar with poverty and hard work, and she knows the machine of Washington from the outside in. She’s no-nonsense and a plodder. In the final analysis, I simply like her and feel she’s the best person for the job as President of the United States.
