LET’S TAKE A STAND (AGAINST VIOLENCE)
Ten years ago I wrote Let’s Take A Stand, a song about my concerns pertaining to violence and the effect it has on children and families. It’s so sad that the world still appears to be stuck in a time warp of war, bombs, and violence against humanity. I invite anyone who wishes to record the song for schools and special events to use my words for free and maybe, just maybe, we can take a stand if enough people say the words out loud in song together. I recorded the song to music with a 6th grade music class singing the words. It’s very powerful when you hear the words sung by a group of children. If anyone wants the lyric and music sheets, and a copy of the children singing the song for their school or special project, please write me and I’ll send along a copy to you.
Title: Let’s Take A Stand – Stop Hurting Each Other
How many times
Can we just sit by
Watching neighbors in turmoil
A world gone awry
(Alternate Line – Bombs lighting the sky)
How many times
Can we watch children die
Fathers and Mothers
No tears left to cry
Let’s take a stand
Stop hurting each other
Lend a hand
Sisters and Brothers
Nations and Neighbors
Fathers and Mothers
Let’s take a stand
Stop hurting each other
How many hearts
Must shatter and break
Where’s the peace that we dream of
In fists that we shake
How many deaths
Will it take to sink in
We’re all one people
The violence must end
Let’s take a stand
Stop hurting each other
Lend a hand
Sisters and Brothers
Nations and Neighbors
Fathers and Mothers
Let’s take a stand . . . (repeat)
