The Eye of the Storm (Poem)
The Eye of the Storm
Within the eye of the storm
With a calmness all around me
I reflect upon the yesterdays
That contributed to my emerging soul
My youth was forged with abandonment
Those issues of self worth and trust
I learned to make the right choices
Embracing a clear path of right and wrong
I learned to trust the God of children
Knowing he’d never intentionally harm a child
I decided that bad things happen to good people
With God’s angels trying hard to intervene
I learned that people rarely listen
Lessons are mostly the importance of a deal
I observed that little ones suffer in need
Bypassed by politics, war and senseless greed
I learned that betrayal is the ultimate pain
Human beings pass on to one another’s PSI
To feed one’s ego is more important
Than loyalty or the spirit of a soul
I’ve never changed how I felt about God
I’ve stayed innocent to the world I observed
I was a target for many to find their path
Left casually behind, when I brightened their way
Humans are petty, ungrateful and arrogant
Wondrous, forgiving, noble and kind
The path toward spiritual growth is choice
And the limbs of chosen truths are vast
I prefer to grow my soul while I can
Leaving the material and human world as it is
Growing my limbs of choice for the child
It’s the legacy I chose to leave when I go
“I am simply
a small voice
within . . .
the eye of the storm
and I care . . .
about you.”
