WORLD VISION OF PEACE
I will relate a vision I had in reference to the Middle East war. There were two opposing sides fighting in a desert. One side was the U.S military. A “family” of soldiers, and on the others side was an Iraq “family” of fighting men and their family members. The fighting went on all night, with one after the other (on both sides) falling to bullets and grenades. As each side picked off a fellow human on the other side, I felt the sadness, the darkness, and the futility of their deaths. Toward morning, the actual fighters began getting younger, with the older men and women (on each side) begging them to quit the killing and the dying. I felt their losses, as if they were my own family. It came down to two boys, about the age of 17 or 18. They were both scared and full of rage and righteousness toward one another. They both came into the open. Both took careful aim with their rifles and fired at each other. They stumbled toward one another, both falling, gravely wounded. As their blood spread and mingled into one another, they became one mind- one whole unit of understanding. They saw they were one person, brothers, yet separate entities with separate purposes and potentials. In the moment of death, staring into one another’s eyes, they saw the futility of their actions and the realization that their life forces had been cut short before their time. The vision didn’t end there. From both sides, the old people came out into the open to bury the dead from the conflict. Olden, wise and wizened people, with a life lived beyond their times, burying the youth and potential of the future.
Does my vision mean that war is futile, wrong, unjustified, justified? I don’t have the answers. Each person must decide what the unveiling means for themself. I’m not judging anyone, just relaying what I saw. I only know what my vision meant to me personally. We must think very carefully before we attack a nation and kill its people, as we are seemingly killing our own psyches and future potential in the process. Surely we can find an easier and more just solution to world conflicts?
